Wednesday, July 15, 1964

Up at 6:00 - Hank had today off - I fried chicken for our picnic - got bkfst. & done dishes & packed our picnic dinner - we left at 8:45 for Nags Head - got down there about 11:00 - took Welad to see the Wright Bros. Monument - then we looked up Dowlings lot that we are planning on buying - It is located on Durham St. - went down to the picnic area at Cape Hatteras Nat'l. Pk. & ate our dinner - nice & cool there - went swimming after we ate - Welad had forgotten his suit - we had a time kidding him about women asking for the time - home at 7:30 - got supper - gave Billy a bath & then we all took baths - Called Catherine & Gladys - bed at 11:15 -

Tuesday, July 14, 1964

I ironed this A.M. - had most of it done when Billy got up at 8:30 - Welad slept until 10:30 - Got 2 bkfsts. - didn't get much done today - Hank came home for lunch - We took him back - Stopped at High's for ice cream - Welad went away for awhile this P.M. - I finished the ironing - Billy got caught in a downpour - rained in every room except Billy's - had supper at 5:15 - had swiss steak - potatoes & gravy - summer squash - green beans & tomatoes - cucumber & green pepper.
Ruby came over for coffee - Went to egg factory & Colonial - got chicken. Made potato salad & deviled eggs - Cleaned chicken.

Monday, July 13, 1964

Welad came tonite -

Up at 6:45 - Washed today - had quite a bit - also done a handwashing - Hank came home for lunch - Ruby invited me over for coffee - got clothes in & folded this P.M. - beds remade - cleaned & cooked a mess of green beans - held up supper until 6:30 but Welad didn't show up so went ahead & ate - just had dishes done when he called - we went after him - I got supper for him - 2 hamburgers - green beans - corn on cob - tomatoes & cucumbers. Jim came over - bed at 12:15 -

Sunday, July 12, 1964

Didn't go anywhere today - I took a shower & washed & set my hair this A.M. - Billy was sick all morning - he vomited several times - Dowlings came this P.M. - Catherine - Billy & I went to Colonial - got ice cream - cookies & biscuits - for lunch I made some doughnuts out of the biscuits - they left about 7:30 - went to Jim & Ruby's for awhile - came home about 8:30 & I made a pizza - watched tv awhile - went to bed at 10:30.

Saturday, July 11, 1964

We all slept until 9:30 - Cleaned part of the house this A.M. - Gladys & Cindy came down & took Billy & I along to Williams Farm - I got tomatoes - cucumbers - green beans & corn - Finished cleaning house this P.M. - Stayed home tonite - John Parrish came over & I wasn't very friendly to him - thought about going to a movie but didn't. Watched Miss Va. Pageant.

Mowed -
Str. up house this A.M. - then used the push mower & done a lot of trimming - then after lunch I mowed with the rider - it really was hot - I quit about 4:00 - had a terrible headache - Hank finished when he came home - I took a shower & gave Billy a bath - got dressed up & we went to Tastee Freez & ate - went to Ingleside & picked up lawn mower part - went to Crawford House & looked at sofas - went to King's - Billy got a battery operated Spook House - Saw Virginia & Gene Kane - Hank got paint at DuPont for picnic table. Watched Alfred Hitchcock.

Thursday, July 9, 1964

I went to the Commissary & Ship's Serv. this A.M. - Gladys kept Billy - Got a necklace & earring set for Linda Ann. Came home & put groceries up. Cleaned cupboard above the stove - after lunch we picked Gladys & Cindy up - took her down to the Medical Tower & she had her eyes checked - I kept Cindy & Billy - George brought Hank to their place & then he came home with me. Had supper early - Feldt came by & him, Hank & Billy went to Ingleside to see about repairing Feldt's mower. Ruby came over for coffee - I wasn't too friendly - Watched tv & went to bed.

Up at 7:00 - Fixed Hank's coffee -
Billy slept until 8:45 - I typed a letter to Mom & Dad - fixed bacon & eggs for breakfast - finished letter after bkfst. - wrote ck. on phone bill & sent ck. & letter to the Grundy Register - went to Ruby's a few minutes - Hank called & said he has the duty - Cleaned whole house this P.M. - Gladys & Cindy came down - weeded out Billy's toys in his room - Billy had pot pie for supper & I had 5 ears of corn - leftover bar-b-Q & sliced tomatoes - done dishes - sat on front porch & caught up in diary - Billy & Jimmy played out front - went to Kitty's awhile & then to Ruby's to get Billy - Hank came home & ate & we took him back to the base - Watched tv after I got back.

Up at 7:30 - Hank had already left - caught up in diary - Got my hair cut at Kantowski's this A.M. & ironed - Hank didn't come home for lunch - Washed & set my hair & took a shower this P.M. - then finished the ironing - Jim gave us sweet corn - also Kitty - Went to Ruby's a little while before Hank came home - fixed Bar-b-qued hamburgers tonite - Zucchini squash & sweet corn - Went to High's after supper & got ice cream cones - took Jimmie along - I went up to Mrs. Ranhorne's when we got home - took a bill to her that a delivery man left with me. Home about 9:20 - Got Billy ready for bed - Watched tv & read papers - bed at 10:45.

Up at 7:20 - Washed 6 loads - done a little handwashing - Billy had no one to play with all day - Hank came home for lunch - Went to Kantowski's after lunch & made appt. to get my hair cut in the morning - got clothes in - folded - dampened - & beds remade - termite men came (2) & refilled holes around outside of house - Ruby & Jim came after supper - had coffee - stayed until 8:45 - Hank & Billy went to egg factory - I read Sunday paper - bed at 10:30 -

Cool & sunny -
Up at 6:15 - Billy was having a coughing spell - went back to bed at 7:00 & slept until about 8:00 - Pam didn't get up until 9:30 - She ate here then went home - I done dishes - weeded flower bed - Hank mowed the sewer lines - Pam came back here for lunch - This P.M. we took a ride - stopped at Crawford House & Furniture Fare & window shopped - Stopped at Farm Fresh & got a watermelon - I felt bad all day - was worn out - Mrs. Ranhorne came down for awhile before supper - Hank cooked steaks out - had potatoe salad - zucchini squash - sliced tomatoes - cucumbers - steak & watermelon. Set off some firecrackers tonite - Pam stayed here - didn't get supper dishes done until 9:30 - bed at 10:30.

Saturday, July 4, 1964

Up at 9:00 - acted like rain but I fixed the chicken - made potato salad & deviled eggs - finally cleared off so we packed a picnic dinner & left about 1:30 - Went down Rt. 17 - finally got a table in N.C. - the biting flys were terrible - never got to fish as it started raining - home about 5:00 - Pam came over & I took her to Overton's - done dishes - fixed Billy hot dogs - we all had cake & ice cream - Pam watched Sat. Nite Movie - I saw part of it but couldn't stay awake - I was awake half the night - slept in Billy's room & run the vaporizer all night - he had croup - was real restless.
