Took Hank to the base so I could have the car - came home & ate breakfast - This morning I took Billy down to the office - Stopped by Catherine's on the way home but she was gone - Stopped at Be Lo & then to see Gladys for awhile. Got home about 12:00 - After lunch Billy played with Jimmy a little while - I weeded strawberries - cleaned the cupboards down below - The Esso man came & cleaned the heater. Picked Hank up at work - Jimmy rode along.

Got up at 7:25. Sunny & fairly cool today.
Washed the machine out with soda water this morning - then run through 1 load of clothes - worked outside - Ruby came over for coffee - Billy went to Bayside with her & Jimmy - he ate lunch with them then ate again with me. Washed my hair this afternoon - worked outside awhile after Billy took a nap. Hank didn't come home for lunch.
Started a letter to Mom & Dad tonight while Hank & Billy went to Bayside. Gave Billy a bath after they got back. Billy got his hair cut tonight.

Went to Midge's for awhile this morning. Jimmy & Billy rode their tricycles over. Got home at 11:30 - got lunch. Done some ironing before lunch. Billy ran off to Midge's after lunch - he rode Jimmy's tractor over. Ray & Midge brought him back in the car. While he took a nap I finished the ironing - picked strawberries - weeded the bed - hoed part of the garden - didn't get it all done before Hank got home. Took a shower after supper - then we went to Bayside - I had to get Modess & a new belt. Stopped at High's for ice cream cones. Hemmed the white dress Charlene gave me after we got back. Billy went to bed at 9:30.

Billy ran off before we got up - Went to Youngs & Newsomes. Fixed pancakes for breakfast. I took Billy to Sunday School this morning - I stayed in class with him. Finished dishes & made the beds after I got home. Put Billy in for a nap this P.M. but he wouldn't go to sleep - I laid down for awhile - didn't feel good. About 4:30 we went for a ride - got tomato plants - Stopped at the Drive In across from Eliz. River Wayside & ate supper - then went by Dowlings - They were gone so we went to Merilyn's - They were there. Got home about 8:30 - Billy went to bed. I fell asleep in the chair.

I done part of the ironing - then Gladys & I went to the Commissary at Fort Story - got back at 12:30 - got lunch & put the groceries away. Finished the ironing - cleaned the house. Hank slept this afternoon - Billy took a nap. Fixed Beef Stew for supper - Gave Billy a bath tonight - Ruby & Jim came over & spent the evening.

I aired some summer clothes - washed 2 loads - Billy's diapers etc. & a load of colored clothes. Picked strawberries - only got a few. Hank came home for lunch. He got off early - about 3:15 - mowed part of the lawn. I cleaned the bedroom windows to the front & put the storms & the screens in. Got clothes in. Took winter stuff out of the closets & folded it to put in the attic. Went to GEX with Gladys tonight - Hank kept Billy - Got Ray Charles's record - garter girdle - night pants for Billy - Got home at 10 min. of 10:00. Billy was still up.

Got up at 7:00 - Called the plumber at 8:00 - he came out shortly after lunch but was without water until then. Cleaned house this morning - Midge came after lunch & stayed until 2:30. Hank came for lunch & again when the plumbers came. I took the wire off the strawberries today & put aluminum foil across the bed. Cleaned the bathroom & mopped it after the plumbers left. We went to Tastee Freez & ate supper tonight - Stopped at Be Lo & the egg factory.

Washed 7 loads today - Hank got off at noon today. I picked strawberries - made a rice pudding for supper. Got clothes in & put away. Gladys & Cindy came down late afternoon. She brought Billy a cat. Tonight Hank discovered water on the living room floor - found out we had a leak between the bath & living room wall - after Hank & I took showers we cut the water off.

Hank, Billy & I got up about 7:30 - Charlene didn't get up until later. Hank & I had instant coffee & Billy had orange juice (2 glasses). Charlene got breakfast. She gave me a lot of clothes - We left at 11:45 - real chilly coming home - had to eat in the car - ate supper at a Drive-In in Waverly. Got home at 8:20 - Billy was real good.

Sunny & warm today - Charlene, Hank & Layton went to have Layton's teeth taken care of. Bob went to the office. Linda, Billy & I stayed home. I took a shower. Had to keep such a close check on Billy. Hank & Charlene got back about 12:45 - we had lunch after Bob got home - In the P.M. Hank, Bob & all the kids went downtown - Charlene & I stayed home - Bob cooked steaks outside but we ate in the house. Watched tv tonight - Linda went to a dance - I rode with Bob to take her & Hank rode along when he went to get her. Billy went to bed about 9:00. We stayed up late. Gave Billy a bath.

Got up at 6:30 - Got ready to go - fixed coffee & a lunch to take along. Hank checked in at the base then came home. We left here at 9:30 - It was cloudy & cool all day - rained a little before we left. We stopped & ate our dinner at a picnic table - also stopped & had coffee & pie in the P.M. - Stopped on the turnpike & ate our supper at a picnic table. Billy was real good - he took a nap after dinner. Got to New Kensington at 7:40 - Hank called Charlene & her & Layton came down to Bob's office & met us. Had lunch there before going to bed - Billy slept with Hank & I - didn't sleep too good. It was late when we got to bed.

Planted the sweet corn this A.M. I worked up the back row of the garden - Picked enough strawberries for Billy & I each to have a small dish for dinner. This afternoon Billy wouldn't take a nap - I washed a load of his diapers, etc. - made a bread pudding - baked a squash pie for tomorrow - cooked potatoes - mended my white slacks - took Billy outside - I worked on the flower bed by the garage again - planted nasturtium - Hank was home early - Gave Billy a bath & washed his hair after supper - then I packed the suitcases - took a shower & got food lined up.

Cleaned the house this A.M. Hank came home early forenoon - took Billy with him to Arco to see about the mower. I done some mending - Hank's bermuda's & my blue shorts. Hank was home for lunch. Midge called after dinner - Billy & I went over there for awhile - got home at 1:30 - he took a nap - I finished up the ironing - cleaned the kitchen & garage - Hank home in the P.M. & then got home early. After supper Hank & Billy went to Robert Hall & Farm Fresh - I stayed here & washed my hair. Sewed the elastic in Billy's p.j's - Hank got the suitcases down.

Tonight we went to Robert Hall & Hank had his pants fitted - got Mom a duster - Went to Janaf - got elastic & cards at Kresge's - got Billy some tennis shoes at Edwards - got 5 pair of pants for myself at Penny's - Home at 8:45. Billy stayed up until 9:30. I wrapped Mom's housecoat. Worked a buttonhole in my housecoat & went to bed.

Gladys & Cindy came over as we were eating lunch. She got squash seeds. Wrote Mom & Dad this afternoon - Went over to Ruby's for awhile - then went to Hurd's for supper - rode out to Va. Beach - got home about 8:30 - lit the candles & had cake & ice cream. Went to bed at 10:30.

Fixed pancakes for breakfast. Roger came at 20 of 8:00. They went after the freezer - had to put it in the garage. I straightened up the house - went to Gladys's for coffee & then to Colonial & got groceries - went to the drugstore & Post Office - Got home at noon & fixed lunch. Roger & Hank mowed the lawn. This P.M. I made a pineapple cheesecake - fixed a roast - finished cleaning house - Washed the freezer out inside. Fixed scalloped eggplant for supper. Gave Billy a bath after supper - then we went after eggs & up to Be Lo for a cake mix. Watched tv & then took a shower.

Wrote to Maurell & Mary this morning. Fixed my white crelin. Worked in the garden. Planted squash - cucumbers & radishes. Worked the grass, etc. out of the rows. Went out again after lunch & worked for awhile. Then Hank & Langworthy came - Hank took him downtown & then home so he could have the truck to move the freezer. Clinedinst came by & got the outboard. I cleaned the kitchen, living room & hall. Hank didn't get back until nearly 6:00. After supper we rode out to check on the freezer & then stopped at Holmes's for awhile. Went to bed at 10:30.

Got up at 4:45. Made the potato salad before breakfast - also cleaned Billy's room - This A.M. I baked an apple pie, also a ham - polished the furniture in the living room - also the washer & stove top - burned trash. Billy played at Ruby's. Midge brought flowers. We left here about 12:45 - Stopped at Gladys's for awhile - then went down to the pier. The ship came in at 2:00. We got home around 4:00 - Hank thought everything looked so nice. Ate supper about 5:30. Went over to Jim & Ruby's for a little bit. Billy went to bed about 8:00. We stayed up until nearly 12:00.

Went to Ruby's several times after Billy & she came over here. A man came today & plowed up my garden - charged $6.00. Took a shower when Billy took a nap - cleaned the back kitchen window & door inside & out - also the garage window inside - swept the garage out. Left Billy at Midge's while I got groceries & gas for the lawn mower - run into Ann Parrish over there - went to Ruby's before supper to get Billy - put the bedroom curtains up tonight.

Started spading up a flower bed between the walk & house - worked at it off & on all day - didn't get it all done - went to Ruby's to check on Billy & had coffee there. Gladys & Cindy came down this afternoon - after she left I worked on the flower bed again & planted some flowers - planted the blue delphinium, rose balsam - devil's claws & porticula by the back door. Kitty came over for awhile. I got a letter from Hank saying they would be here Monday so I really got excited. Tonight I wrote to Mom & Dad. Went to bed at 11:30.

Got up at 7:00. Sunny today & windy - 85
Went to the base this A.M. & cashed a check - filled the car up with gas - Then picked up Catherine & we went to Robert Hall - I got Hank a pair of trousers & 2 knit shirts for his birthday - got myself 4 pr. of shorts - Then we went to Tastee Freez for dinner - then to Atlantic Mills - didn't get anything there - Took Catherine home - got home at 1:30. Billy wouldn't take a nap - I finished washing screens & cleaned outside windows on the kitchen & living room. Also cleaned them inside & cleaned the frames above the sink with steel wool. Billy played outside. Went to Midge's for awhile after supper. Got home at 8:30 - Gladys called as I was coming in the door. Billy went to bed at 9:00.

Roger got here at 6:15 & started mowing - finished about 10:15. I finished cleaning the storm windows & started on the screens when Ruby came over - She came in for coffee - also washed 3 loads of clothes. Billy played outside all day - didn't take a nap. Mary Holmes called when I was getting lunch. She wanted to come over so I went after her after lunch. We had ice cream, cookies & coffee. I took her home about 5:00. Washed dishes before supper - Billy played at Young's - gave him a bath after supper - he went to bed at 8:00. I wrote a letter to Tina Graham & watched tv - went to bed at 11:10.

This morning I vacuumed my bedroom, hall & bath - Took out all the storm windows & screens - washed part of the storm windows & cleaned outside windows on our bedroom - back bedroom - bath - living room - Billy played outside all morning - Billy took a nap this afternoon. I ironed all afternoon - Midge came over right after lunch & stayed until 2:30. Billy slept until 5:30 - ate supper then I went to see Martha Jones - Got home at 8:30 - Billy went to bed - I washed supper dishes & then ironed - Ironed until 12:15.

Washed 5 loads of clothes - (kitchen curtains & my bedspread & 2 loads of summer clothes) - They dried so quick - had most of them in before noon. I was getting breakfast when Dowling's drove in at 7:20 - they had Carol & Jean Gravely with them. They had been to Sunrise Services & stopped for coffee. I fixed bacon & pancakes for them - after they left I done dishes - gave Billy a bath - got ready & went to Pat & Roger's about 10:45. She had a real nice dinner - Billy ran off all day - left there at 5:15 & went by Dowling's - ate supper with them. Got home at 7:15 - Billy was worn out - went right to bed - I fell asleep watching tv - Midge called & woke me up. Went to bed at 10:00.

Went to Midge's for awhile this morning - Then took the car to Holland's & had it checked - Stopped & got eggs. After lunch I mowed the front lawn on both sides. Billy took a nap. I run the sweeper over the kitchen - living room, hall bath & our bedroom. Went up in the attic for Billy's Easter basket. After supper we dyed eggs - Billy stayed up for Lawrence Welk - I took a bath & a shower - soaked my feet - fixed Billy's Easter basket - folded clothes & put my hair up. Watched Gunsmoke - Went to bed at 12:45.

Didn't get through with the living room until 5:30 - Went to Allie's & got hot dogs - went to Colonial & got groceries - cashed a check.

Went to Midge's for a little bit after lunch - Billy took a nap this P.M. - I mopped & waxed the kitchen floor - scraped tar - Billy played at Young's until supper - I got 2 coats of wax on half the floor before supper - waxed the other half after supper.

Got up at 5:45. Pat & Roger came at 10 till 8:00. He mowed the lawn. This afternoon Pat & I & the kids went for a ride - through Thoroughgood & up to Va. Beach - they stayed for supper too & up until 9:30 tonight. Billy went to bed about 8:00 - after they left I watched Gunsmoke & then went to bed. I was exhausted tonight - didn't even do supper dishes. What a day!

Stopped at the Post Office - at the dime store & got blue buttons - thread & tennis shoes - got Billy a book at the drugstore & got coffee at Colonial. This afternoon I sewed on my housecoat & took my brown blouse up more. Gladys & Cindy came down late afternoon (5:00) - Midge called. Ruby came just as we finished supper. Billy went to bed about 9:00 - I done the handwork on my housecoat tonight. Don't have it finished yet.

Washed 2 loads of clothes - had the 3rd one in when I ran out of water. Called Faye - he didn't come until suppertime - no water all day. He couldn't fix it so sent Danner out - he put a new compasitor on the motor. The total bill was $10.95. Didn't get it fixed until 9:30. I weeded the strawberries & pulled weeds all around the fence - dug up iris bulbs. Billy didn't take a nap & ran off all day - Mrs. Dearmon called - also Gladys, Catherine & Pat. Ruby & Kitty came over. After I got water I done dishes & called Catherine & Gladys. Billy went to bed at 7:15.

I went out & got flowers in - arranged them on the tv, coffee table, end table & kitchen table. Started a letter to Hank - Dowling's came about 3:30 - stayed until 7:00. We had lunch. Midge called again as they were leaving. Got supper - Billy went to bed at 9:30. After writing to Hank I watched the late movie "Edgar Allan Poe."

Got up at 7:15 - Billy was vomiting - he was sick from going without eating last night. I called Therza this morning - She is going to order our flowers. I cleaned the house today - re-arranged Billy's room & the living room - Called Catherine. Midge called & asked me to come over but I didn't go. Gladys called this afternoon - She came & got Hank's letter & mailed it for me - then she came back & had coffee late this afternoon - I stirred up some chocolate chip cookies but didn't bake them. Had macaroni & cheese & toasted cheese sandwiches, rice pudding for supper - Gladys called after supper - she said her & Midge had it out on the phone. Billy fell asleep on the davenport about 7:30. I watched tv - took a shower.

Sunny today but windy - Worked on my housecoat before breakfast - Went to the bank this A.M. & deposited my check - Drew $20.00 out - filled the car up with gas & had the oil & water checked - Went to Short Stop & got flower seed & Raid - Stopped at Colonial - Stopped at Gladys's but didn't go in - took her an empty gallon vinegar jug. Came home & edged the walk in back - Got lunch - Mary Holmes was suppose to come but didn't. Run the sweeper a little bit around the kitchen, living room & hall. Brought flowers in - worked on the drive again this P.M. Put Billy in for a nap at 3:00 - he slept straight through. I was talking to Midge when the operator cut in - it was C.E. calling to say Jim had died. I called Hank & he doesn't think he will be able to come home. Ruby came over - Billy used the pot after dinner. I called Tina after she left.

I kept Brenda while Midge went to the commissary. Worked outside - finished the trim work with the push mower. Talked to Ruby out back - Midge got back at 10:45 - had 1 cup of coffee & left. I went to Ruby's & got Billy. After lunch we went to Mary Holmes's - got back about 2:30 - Billy took a nap - slept until 5:30 - I started sewing on my housecoat - made a rice pudding for supper. Sunny but cool today - Straightened the house up this morning after breakfast. Sewed the buttons on my brown blouse. Midge called & was coming - I told her I had some errands to run so she asked to go along. I picked her up - went to Bayside & got buttons for my blue blouse & air mail envelopes. Went to the egg factory - came home & done a lot of trimming in front - Midge helped. We went to Vic's & ate lunch - then I took her home. Roger had just got here when I got home - he mowed the yard. I trimmed along the drive & walk - Billy took a nap - I wrote part of a letter to Hank while waiting for him to go to sleep. Roger left at 5:00 - gave Billy a bath after supper.

Got up at 7:20. Done the dampened ironing this A.M. - straightened all 3 closets & re-arranged them. Worked 2 buttonholes in my brown blouse. Ate lunch & took Billy to Midge's while I went to the dentist - Didn't get back until 4:30. After I got out of the dentist's I went by the office & saw everyone - Stopped at Be Lo on the way home. Had coffee at Midge's & came home. Billy went to bed at 7:15 - I wrote Mom & Dad a 17 page letter - went to bed at 12:15.

Washed 4 loads of clothes & done some handwashing - went to Ruby's for coffee- After lunch we went to Midge's for awhile - came home & Billy took a nap - I got the clothes in & done the ironing. Billy slept until 6:20 - went to bed at 9:30. I took a shower after writing to Hank.

Got up at 6:45. It rained all morning -
Fixed pancakes for breakfast. Got the clothes down in the garage & folded them - polished Billy's shoes. Played ball with Billy. Pat & Roger came just as we were finishing lunch - They stayed until 5:30. Kelly & Billy played outside. Billy went to bed at 7:45. I watched tv awhile but fell asleep - woke up at 10:45 & went to bed.

When Billy woke up we went to 7-11 & got bread, catsup & French Fries. Stopped at Gladys's for awhile on the way home - Had hot dogs, beans, salad & pie for supper - Gave Billy a bath & he watched part of Lawrence Welk. Balanced the bank statement & wrote 2 checks tonight - Took a shower.

Billy never would take a nap - I finally got him up about 4:00. Lynn came over & played with him. Pat called about suppertime. Gladys called after supper - Billy went to sleep about 7:30 on the davenport.

Started to clean house but but had the kitchen left to do when Midge came - Then Roger called & said they would be out in a little bit to mow. They came shortly after Midge left. Roger got the mowing done. I got supper for them - They stayed until 11:30. I done the dishes after they left - went to bed about 12:30. I didn't feel good today.

This afternoon I made button holes in Billy's p.j's & put buttons on - also sewed buttons on Hank's p.j's.

Beach Blvd. - Stopped at Carroll's GEX & I got powder, powder puff - Modess - hair net & a record. Went to Catherine's & she let the dog out a minute - then came home with me - Billy took a short nap. Fred came at 6:00. Billy & I had pot pies for supper. Catherine called tonight & said her skirt fit - I called Roger to see how Kelly was. Sewed on my light blue blouse tonight.

We went to the bank on the base & I drew out $50.00 for Dad - then went to Colonial at Bayside - then to Blaney's & got a housecoat pattern - then we went to the Gold Bond Store at Janaf - Mom got a set of plastic dishes - went in Singer's & priced machines - Stopped & went through the big trailer house near Janaf. I went to the Commissary this P.M. while Mom stayed with Billy & packed. Baked an apple pie when I got back for them to take along. Gladys came down to bid them goodbye - I got supper - Dad hardly ate anything - he was sick all day - his heart bothered him. Mom baked a ham for them to take - Dowling's couldn't come because Fred worked late.

We left early this A.M. & went to Va. Beach to see the flood damage - It is quite a mess there. Stopped at Princess Anne Plaza S.C. & Aragona Village S.C. on the way home. Took the sleeves out of my plaid blouse this P.M. & sewed darts in it. The man from May's Studio came at 3:00 & took Billy's picture. Billy took a nap after that. Tonight Mom showed me how to sew my blue blouse together.

Kitty came over about 5:30 & Fred came at the same time. We went to King's after supper to see colored tv - I got material for a housecoat & a bag for the closet that is suppose to draw dampness. Then we went to GEX - Mom got hair rinse & Sucaryl - I got vitamins. Got home about 9:45.

Left at 9:00 this morning & went to Roosevelt Gardens Shopping Center - They were still closed so we went to Atlantic Mills - I got 3 pr. of shorts - Then we went to Rose's - I got black & purple material for blouses. Then we went to Farm Fresh. Came home & ate lunch - Midge & Brenda came after dinner - She was getting ready to leave when Dowling's came - They stayed until after 5:00. I gave Catherine my purple coat. Mom fixed it for her. I fixed my pink blouse tonight.

Left at 9:00 this morning & went to Roosevelt Gardens Shopping Center - They were still closed so we went to Atlantic Mills - I got 3 pr. of shorts - Then we went to Rose's - I got black & purple material for blouses. Then we went to Farm Fresh. Came home & ate lunch - Midge & Brenda came after dinner - She was getting ready to leave when Dowling's came - They stayed until after 5:00. I gave Catherine my purple coat. Mom fixed it for her. I fixed my pink blouse tonight.

Cloudy & raining all morning - sun came out late this afternoon.
Mom was sick all day - she stayed in bed until about 5:00. I washed 2 loads of clothes & hung them in the garage. Ruby & Jimmy came over this morning. Dad went away this afternoon - I sewed a little - Mom was in bed. Gladys called & then her & Ronnie & Cindy came down. She brought the vaporizer back & also the jump chairs. Dad went to Carroll's & got supper - brought it back here. Called Maurell's tonight to see how the weather was so Mom & Dad would know what to do about going home. Gladys called tonight to see how Mom was.
Billy spelled Mom's name tonight - ELLA.

Fair & cool.
Had the house cleaned by 9:30. Mom did the bedrooms & living room - I did the kitchen & garage. Roger came about 10:00 & stayed until almost 1:00. Mom slept this P.M. - I sewed a little on my red blouse & fixed supper. Went to Bayside before supper & got bread. Stopped at Midge's on my way home & paid her for the coffee she got yesterday.
Watched tv tonight - Hank called at 8:10 - wondered how we were getting along.
Welad called at 9:30.
I fell asleep during Gunsmoke & Mom woke me up at 1:10.
Billy used the pot again today - 2nd time.

Finished Hank's p.j's this morning except for bottoms & button holes. Billy really surprised us all this morning - he went to the bathroom alone after breakfast & he used the pot for the first time. When I went in there he said "I pooped a hot dog" - Really proud of himself. Just as we were leaving for Wool Lumber this morning, Midge came over so Billy & I came back in. She stayed until noon. This afternoon I cut out a red blouse for myself. Kept Jimmy for Ruby while she went to the Dr. I went to Colonial this afternoon. Started sewing on my blouse tonight.

Started clearing today, but still some flooding.
I cleaned the living room & kitchen this A.M. - then we went out to see what damage the storm done - rode towards Va. Beach but the road was blocked - then went out West Ocean View Ave - Everything along the beach is a mess. Billy fell asleep in the car - he woke up after we had eaten so Mom fed him while I took a shower - Dowling's came this afternoon - stayed until after 5:00.

Rode out near Lynnhaven Bridge this morning to see the water - the road was under water & they had the Army & Navy out rescuing people - also frogmen. Went again before supper - the water had gone down some. Sewed on Hank's p.j's this afternoon & evening. Fred called tonight - he was stranded up town for 8 hrs. today because of the water.

Sun shining today but fairly cold.
Billy was sick all day - didn't eat or play. He laid around most of the time. I called Pat & told her he was sick so they didn't come. Mom called Dowling's so they didn't come either. Mary Holmes called this afternoon. They were going to come but didn't beings Billy was sick. We didn't do much of anything all day. Gladys called this afternoon & wanted the vaporizer so Dad & I took it up to her. Cindy was sick too.
Watched tv tonight.

Got up at 7:00. Billy was sick today - ran a temperature & looked so white. Made cinnamon rolls & butterhorns this A.M. - Mom done most of it. Dad & I went to the base - The bank was closed. Had the car filled up - went to Colonial for groceries. Saw Sadie. This afternoon I cleaned the garage & went over the kitchen again - shook rugs. Sewed some more on Billy's pyjamas - finished the top & done part of the pants. Mom & Dad went out to Roosevelt Gardens Shopping Center this afternoon after coffee.
Took a shower tonight - Billy didn't want to watch Lawrence Welk - he went to bed. Mom & Dad didn't feel good today either.
Stopped the evening paper.

Roger called this morning - Said they had talked to Roy & Tina last night & that it was 34 below zero in Reinbeck yesterday morning - Mom, Billy & I went to Midge's this morning - I cleaned house this afternoon. Gladys came down & took Mom to Bayside with her. When they came back we had coffee - She stayed until 5:00 - We ate supper at Carroll's tonight then went to Janaf. I got Billy a blackboard at Kresge's. Sewed Billy's pyjama top together tonight. Billy got sick tonight - I got him up & gave him aspirin - held him awhile - he felt real hot - finally settled down. Put Mom's hair up.

I washed 2 loads of clothes. Gladys & Cindy came this morning. This afternoon I weeded the strawberries & done a little trimming. We moved Billy's swings close to the house. Dad took Billy's playpen down. Mom sewed. Ruby came over. Tonight I made my plaid blouse but didn't get it finished - I done part of the ironing before supper. Mom got supper. Dad's car broke down & he was late coming home. He had to get a new fuel pump. Dad, Billy & I went to Colonial after supper - gave Billy a bath when we got back.

After lunch we went for a ride - went out Rt. 58 up past Courtland - then cut through to Rt. 40. Took coffee & raisin bread along. Billy got his eyelashes caught under his lower lid - we really had a time. Ate supper at Carol's Drive Inn - Got home about 7:15.

Went to King's - I got Dad a shirt & got 2 hand towels & 2 washcloths - Ate dinner at Mr. Walter's then went to Janaf - I went to Colonial Store & the dime store - Mom came in Colonial later. This afternoon Mom fixed the curtain for the back door & for the bathroom - done some sewing - I washed a load of clothes & hung them in the garage - made vegetable soup for supper. Went to Roger's tonight - Pat wasn't bad. Real foggy tonight.

Dad, Billy & I went to GEX after breakfast & got a gallon of floor enamel - stopped at Colonial. Mom stayed here done touch up painting. Before lunch we straightened up the garage & got it ready for painting the floor. Gladys & Cindy came by for a few minutes. Mom & I painted the floor this afternoon. Ray Warner came over with 4 azalea bushes & one evergreen shrub. Mom cleaned the kitchen & living room - I done the bedrooms & bath. Gave Billy a bath after supper. Midge came over tonight & stayed until 10:00.

Rained today.
Dad & I worked in the garage this morning while Mom kept Billy in the house. I put stuff on the shelves & got rid of a lot. Finished painting shelves & cleaned the floor this afternoon. Mom got supper while I scrubbed the floor - worked on it again after supper - also done some more painting while Mom took a bath. I quit about 11:00 & took a bath.

Dad & I worked in the garage this morning while Mom kept Billy in the house. I put stuff on the shelves & got rid of a lot. Finished painting shelves & cleaned the floor this afternoon. Mom got supper while I scrubbed the floor - worked on it again after supper - also done some more painting while Mom took a bath. I quit about 11:00 & took a bath.

Cloudy in A.M. - Nice this P.M.
After breakfast we went to DuPont to get 1 gal. of white paint & 1 qt. of the stuff you add to it - Stopped at Overton's - then went to Wool Lumber & got a bag of cement. It was noon when we got home. I got lunch while Mom started putting cement on the walls. Baked a pie & fixed chili for supper. Worked in the garage all afternoon - I painted & Mom put cement on. Really a job. Painted for awhile after supper.
Got a Valentine from Hank & Billy got one too - He also got Valentines from Jimmy H - all the Warners & Ronnie & Cindy.

I washed 4 loads of clothes this morning. Mom finished up the curtains & bedspread. Dad went to DuPont & got paint. Took Billy outside this A.M. - finished up a roll of film & Dad took it to Bayside this P.M. After lunch we started on the garage. Worked at it all afternoon & Mom worked until 9:30 tonight. I done some painting but Mom done most of it. Father painted a little too. I done the ironing tonight. We got the east wall done & part of the north & south.

Dad & I went to Blaney's after breakfast & got 6 & 1/2 more yds of material for the back bedroom - then went to DuPont & priced paint for the garage. Mom stayed with Billy & sewed. After lunch we went to GEX & priced paint - Mom took her leather jacket back. Stopped at Janaf - got Mom a black leather jacket at Penny's - also got brown d??? for my bedspread. Came home & had coffee - Billy took a nap. Mom sewed & I got supper. Sewed on curtains tonight (Mom did). I cut out some pants for Billy & sewed them together. Didn't get to bed until 1:00.

Called Ruby this morning & she said she would cut my hair for me after lunch. Done a little sewing this morning. Mom fixed Billy's drapes, also his pants. I went up in the attic & threw a few things out. Dad put shelves in the wooden locker in the garage & moved the lockers. Ruby & Jimmy came just before we ate & she cut my hair. Mom gave me a permanent this afternoon. Had maid-rites for supper. Gave Billy a bath after supper & I took one.

Mom & Dad went to Robert Hall's right after breakfast. I done the ironing - got clothes off the lines, etc. & folded them - sewed buttons on one of Billy's shirts. Fred & Catherine were suppose to come out this P.M. but Fred didn't get home in time. I baked a cake after dinner - Mom & I sewed this P.M. - After lunch we went out to Duck Inn and down to the Bridge. After supper we went to GEX. Got Valentines, tablecloth, stationery - Home Permanent & socks for Billy.

She went to bed early - Dad fell asleep in the chair - I watched tv & made buttonholes in the shirt Mom made for Billy today. Mom got up later & had coffee with us.

We went to the base this morning. I went to the bank & gas station. Then we went to the Fabric Shop on Va. Beach Blvd. - Reynolds' Hardware & Robert Hall. Stopped at Janaf & I went into People's. Saw Gladys Davis & Thelma there. Ate lunch at McDonald's & then came home. Dad went away this P.M. - Billy took a nap & Mom cut out a dress & made the pillow covers for me - I made a squash pie & a blackberry pie - Mom made an apple pie. Washed my leather jacket & got supper.

Kitty & Elmo came up this afternoon. Merilyn & Sandy brought Fred & Catherine out. First time they had been out since Fred's heart attack. Dad took them home while Mom & I got supper. Billy went to bed about 4:30 & slept through.

Misting & foggy today - Mom fixed 8 blouses for me this A.M. Gladys Davis came over for coffee this morning. Fred called. We gave Billy an enema this noon & finally got him to use the potty chair. After lunch we went to Blaney's Fabric Shop & I got material for the sofa pillows - Mom got material for 2 dresses & 3 zippers. We stopped at Be Lo on the way to Blaney's. After that we went to see Dowling's. Catherine was gone downtown. Got home about 3:45 & had coffee. Billy took a nap then. Mom picked out nuts tonight & I changed buttons on blouses.

Nice today - Mom & I went to BeLo before lunch. After lunch we went for a ride around Dismal Swamp - went into No. Carolina on Rt. 17 - came back on 32. Took our coffee along, also nut bread. Billy fell asleep on the way home but woke up for supper. Rained late afternoon & evening. Mom & I picked out walnuts tonight.

Nice today but cold - 18 this morning when Dad got up. Mom & I got up at 6:45. Billy got sick at breakfast & vomited. After that he ate a little & said he felt better. He was real good all day. I cleaned house this morning - Mom finished my black & brown wool dress & baked date-nut bread - washed her hair & I put it up before lunch. After lunch I went to Colonial & got groceries, also the post office & Dime Store. Mom stayed home with Billy & he took a nap. Mom baked raisin-nut bread, cinnamon rolls & butter horns. Dad went to Dowlings this P.M. & took them squash & date bread. Mom got sick tonight & vomited. Dad's eye is better.

Billy threw a fit & we had to take him to the car. Then we went to Atlantic Mills - ate lunch at McDonald's - then took a ride out in the country (Princess Anne. Pungo)

Really a miserable day - rained all morning - turned into snow around noon & snowed all afternoon - it was a regular blizzard. Mom, Dad & Billy had eaten when I got up & had dishes done. I didn't eat any breakfast. We watched the telethon today & done a little hemming & pressing. Mom & I took showers this afternoon. Fred & Catherine called - Pat called & said that Darlene had a baby girl today. I called Gladys Davis tonight.

I had the income tax figured & sent the Federal in. Mom & Dad stayed in the car with Billy. Then we went down to look at the Bridge Tunnel. Stopped at Colonial & the Dime Store at Bayside. After lunch I started cleaning the bedrooms when Pat & Roger came - They stayed until 4:45 - Dad came home about 4:00 from the airport. Had an early supper - Mom hemmed one skirt this afternoon. Kitty was here for coffee this A.M. Lansden came to fix the tv & had coffee with us. Went to the hospital tonight to see Fred. Took Catherine to Merilyn's - didn't go in.

Nice day. Midge & Brenda came this A.M. I washed diapers. Mom & I planted the strawberries. Ruby came over for coffee this P.M.

Dad & Hank went for a drive this PM. Mom & I stayed home all day. Put their stuff away.

Waited all day for Mom & Dad. It rained and I baked a pecan pie & baked cookies.
Mom called at 5:15 from Wakefield. They got here about 6:45 - We were watching tv & didn't see them drive up. They were pretty tired - we had supper a little late.
