Up at 7:00. Cut out a blouse for myself out of Hank's p.j. top material. Finished making Billy's p.j. bottoms - started sewing on blouse. Washed a load of clothes & hung them in the garage. Laid down & got Billy asleep - got up & done dishes - sewed on blouse again - picked up things - fixed bar-b-qued chicken for supper. Gave Billy a bath after supper - watched tv & sewed a little bit.

Cloudy.
Up at 8:00 - Didn't go to Sunday School - washed last nights' dishes before breakfast - after cleaning up I took a shower. Jimmy came over & played with Billy. Jim came for a little while. I read the paper. After lunch we were getting ready to go to Janice & Bill's when Lansden called about the tv - Lowe called & said his wife was on the way over - then Pat called - her & the kids were coming out - I told her we were going away - we went to Janice 's to return her watch - Janice, Billy & I went to Dearmon's for awhile - had coffee when we went back to Janice's - left at 5:45 - Billy fell asleep as soon as we left. We stopped at Burger Chef & ate - home at 7:15 - Billy was still asleep - I put his p.j.'s on & put him to bed - he didn't have any supper. Wrote in diary.

Up at 8:00 - After breakfast I helped Hank get his clothes ready for St. Thomas - then him & Billy went to the base, to Ruby's & to Langworthy's - got back about 2:00. I cleaned the house - Janice called & said they would come about 4:00 - I made the spaghetti sauce - laid down & got Billy asleep - then done dishes - was making out a grocery list when Janice & Bill came at 3:00. Hank & Bill went to the store - I washed my hair & Janice put the permanent in (Gentle Toni) - had spaghetti, vienna bread, toss salad for supper - after dishes Janice set my hair for me. Billy sat on pot late tonight - I made popcorn & fixed a few snacks - They stayed until 12:30.

After dishes I got ready - cleaned the kitchen & living room - Hank came back about 1:45 - We took Billy to the Dr. & he had a shot - then I got my hair cut - from there we went to GEX. Billy & I didn't get up until 8:30. Didn't do much this A.M. - Took the clothes off the rack & folded them - straightened up the house - cut out another pair of p.j. bottoms for Billy out of the white figured flannel - had to piece the legs - wrote out the check for the house payment - Sent it & a letter to Mom & Dad - Midge called this A.M. - I had a headache nearly all day. She brought me 13 eggs. After she left I wrote to Mom & Dad - didn't go to bed until 1:30.

Sunny - but cold & windy.
Didn't get up until 8:45 - after breakfast I done dishes - straightened up the house - took a shower. Hank & Billy went to Ruby's for awhile. After lunch & dishes I put a roast on - laid down & got Billy asleep - got up & baked a applesauce spice cake - peeled potatoes - got clothes down from the garage & folded them - was doing that when George, Gladys & Cindy came - I made coffee - while they were here Dowling's came - after Davis's left we had more coffee - I was getting supper & Dowling's were going to stay - then Lowe's came, so Dowling's left shortly after. We ate while Lowe's sat in the living room - they stayed until 9:00. Hank & I done dishes after they left. Got Billy ready for bed. I wrote in my diary. Went to bed at 10:45.

Got up at 7:00 - Hank had to go to work but got off about 10:30. I took all the Xmas cards down & checked them against my list - washed 1 load of white clothes & hung them in the garage. Hank & I moved the refrigerator over by the stove but didn't like it. Jim came & he helped move it back. I cleaned it out behind - wiped up the floor underneath - washed the wall down in back of the stove - also under side of cupboards. After lunch I went to Janaf - went to Penny's - got brown heels at Hofheimer's - went to Kresge's & got a silverware tray - also a plastic scrub pail & new diary. Stopped at Be Lo's - done lunch dishes when I got home - after supper we went to Lowe's - stayed until 12:30 - Billy stayed awake until we got home - he was real good.

Janice & Billy & I went to her folks about 4:30 - got back to Janice's at 5:30 - Bill & Hank went & got Charco-Burgers & French Fries - Janice made coffee & warmed up buns. We left about 8:30 - I read the paper after we got home.

Up at 8:00 - Took a shower & put my hair up right after breakfast dishes - Hank & Billy went after eggs & soup bones - then they went to Jones's. I cleaned the house except for the kitchen - after lunch I done the dishes & put the soup bones on - laid down & got Billy to sleep - Hank went to Gate 3 & met some guy named Whitaker from Abingdon who is in the Navy. I cleaned the kitchen - made vegetable soup - sewed Hank's pants up - read the Grundy paper - got ready to go to Janice & Bill's - ate supper & done dishes - got Billy ready. We left about 6:45 - got up to the highway & decided to come back. It was raining so hard that we couldn't see - called Janice when we got home - Hadn't been here long when Mom & Dad called - I colored with Billy - watched tv - wrote in diary. Billy went to bed at 10:00.

Ironed until time to get breakfast for Billy - washed one load of clothes & hung them out - Billy played outside for awhile - he went down to Kitty's - I went after him - no one home but Ricky. Came home just as Hank got here - after lunch I done dishes while Hank went & had the snow tires taken off the car - then he picked Billy & I up & we went to Va. Beach to get our new car - Billy & I went uptown while Hank got the papers etc. fixed up - I got a Kotex belt & a picture frame for Mom & Dad's wedding picture - when we got home I finished the ironing - got clothes in & got supper. Hank went down to change the car insurance. After supper I called Janice - done the ironing from today's wash - Hank & Billy went to Bayside & got the Xmas pictures - I wrote to Welad's tonight - bed at 10:45.

Up at 7:30 - Didn't do much today - didn't feel very good - had diarrhea this P.M. - In A.M. I dampened clothes - got some down out of garage - redded out Billy's toy box - took the holly down & vacuumed the kitchen - living room & hall - Pat called - letter & card from Carol & Wally today - Hank got home about noon - after lunch he sanded the door between kitchen & living room. I helped him get the glass off - broke into a million pieces - Kitty came up - I laid down with Billy - didn't get up until nearly 5:00 - after supper Hank called the guy at Va. Beach - decided to take the cream colored Comet. We went to Warner's - home about 10:30 - I wrote to Mom & Dad.

Up at 7:30 - Hank had gone to work - didn't feel very good - washed 2 loads of clothes & hung them in the garage - straightened up the house - Hank got off about noon - after lunch we went to the Electrolux place & got a new hose for the sweeper - also a bag of filters - then went to M.O. Norths & looked at Comets - came home for a minute - then decided to go to Va. Beach & look at them - took a ride in one. Got supper when we got home - gave Billy a bath after supper - Hank took some film to the store - Billy broke a half gallon jug of apple juice - really a mess all over the kitchen & in the living room - wiped the floor up 3 times & vacuumed - went to bed at 10:30.

I got up at 6:00 - Made coffee - wrote in diary - Hank got up about 6:30 - We finally woke Billy up - he was really excited when he opened his presents - ate breakfast about 9:00 - I done dishes & made Carol's chocolate pie - Jim, Ruby & Jimmy came over about 11:00 for coffee - we all laid down & slept this afternoon - didn't feel very good - ate about 5:30 - had baked ham - potatoes & gravy - candied yams - scalloped corn - jello-whipped cream salad - hot rolls & pie. We was worn out tonight - watched tv awhile - went to bed about 10:00 - tried to call home but the lines were busy.

Up at 8:00 - fixed pancakes for breakfast. Cleaned all but the bedrooms this morning - Hank took Billy to Jimmy's & Warner's. Borrowed Ruby's sweeper hose - mine won't give any suction. More cards today - cleaned the back windows of the living room - laid down & got Billy asleep - then I fixed beef stew for supper - made a jello salad for tomorrow - This A.M. I used steel wool on the kitchen, living room & bathroom floors - Tonight we went to Jim & Ruby's - Billy took Jimmy a gift - Stayed until 11:30 - Whipped the cream for the salad when I got home - got the presents out after Billy went to sleep.

Hank & Billy went after batteries for the camera - I got dressed up - Warner's came at 8:00 - stayed until 11:00. Up at 7:30 - Hank came home & changed clothes. Didn't do much today - didn't feel good. Straightened up the house - went to Midge's this morning - Billy rode his tractor - home at 12:15 - Hank picked us up on the way home - after lunch Hank went shopping - Jimmy came over - I done dishes - hung lights in the front living room window & back kitchen window. Ruby came over - Hank came home with a Sunbeam Mixmaster for me for Xmas - first we used the juicer & squeezed an orange - then I stirred up a batch of refrig. cookies - got supper - Billy went to Jimmy's for awhile after supper - he went to bed at 8:30 - I watched tv & wrote in diary - hung up cards we got today.

Up at 7:30 - Got cleaned up & made the beds - straightened up the house a little bit - ironed Hank's white shirt. He got home about 8:45 - Got breakfast for Hank & I - Billy was watching tv - he ate a little later - Washed a load of towels. Billy went to Jimmy's - I went to check on him - had coffee & stayed until about noon. George Davis & Hank worked on the washer hook-up. George was here for lunch. Billy & I had to go to Overton's to get stuff for lunch. I didn't feel good - had chills & sore throat. Laid down with Billy & slept until 5:05. Got up & done lunch dishes - got supper - got our tree, etc. down 7 put it up tonight - Jim & Jimmy came over tonight - after they left we watched Gunsmoke.

George Davis was here all afternoon working on the plumbing for the washer. Re-arranged the living room to make room for the Xmas tree. Washed 2 loads of clothes after supper & water ran all over the kitchen. Gladys & Cindy came down. She brought milk for me. Billy fell asleep while they were here. After they left I put him to bed - watched tv tonight - hung the clothes in the garage.

Wrote to Mom & Dad this morning - got breakfast - Ruby called & asked me to come over so we went over there & stayed until noon - After lunch Jimmy came over & I started staining the baseboards - worked at that all afternoon - Billy didn't take a nap. Also done the front living room door & done frame. Fixed Bar-B-Que ribs for supper - finished up the painting while supper was cooking. Billy went to bed shortly after supper. Up t 7:30 - ate at 9:30 - Made beds etc. before breakfast - Midge came before we ate - She stayed until noon - after lunch I laid down & got Billy to sleep - then called Pat - worked on the cracks in the living room - filled them with spackling compound - got all the outside walls done & part of inside - the Sears man came to check the washer - had to rebuild the pump - cost $10.40. Snowed this afternoon. Supper at 6:00 - wrote to Sheri tonight - called Dowling's - filled some more cracks - wrote in diary.

Sunny but terribly cold.
Up at 7:00. Was going to wash but on the first load it wouldn't spin dry - left water in the machine so I didn't wash anymore. Jimmy came as we were eating & played here until lunchtime - I nearly froze hanging out the clothes. Ruby came over for coffee. I mended my red slacks - took up a green & brown pair - cut the legs off the brown pr. & made pedal pushers out of them - laid down to get Billy asleep - then mended - wrapped a few Xmas presents - Billy went to Jimmy's after his nap - tonight Hank, Jim & Mr. Paul went to the Civic Club meeting - Jimmy stayed here - I popped corn - wrote in diary & watched tv - Went to bed at 10:30.

Billy & I didn't go to Sunday School because of his cold. Jimmy came over & played all morning. I took a shower after doing dishes - straightened up the house - wrote notes on a few Xmas cards. Jim came over - then Ruby came & stayed quite awhile. One of Jim's friends came looking for Jim - after they all left I done dishes - then we went to McDonald's & ate lunch - stopped at Aragonna Shopping Center - mailed a letter to Mom & Dad - came home & wrapped Dowling's Xmas present. They came about 3:00 - I baked cookies - they brought apple pie - we had lunch - I gave Catherine some clothes to give Sandy - gave Catherine my mouton coat. They left about 7:30 - Billy fell asleep while they were here - I got him ready for bed & he went back to sleep - done dishes & read the paper - didn't feel good today - ovulation trouble I think - went to bed at 10:30.

Up at 7:30 - Cleaned our bedroom & hall - then got breakfast - done dishes - Cleaned Billy's room - bath & was doing the living room when Hank came home for lunch - finished the floor & cleaned the kitchen - then Billy & I ate - when I got dishes done Midge & Brenda came - they stayed until 2:30 - Kitty also came up. When they left I laid down & got Billy asleep - then dusted the living room & re-arranged it a little bit - fixed pizza for supper. I went to King's tonight & got Mom a necklace & earrings for her Birthday - also wrapping paper & a new tablecloth. Hank stayed with Billy. Wrapped Mom's present & got their box ready for mailing. Bed about 10:30.

Up 7:15. Wrote to Mom this morning - Straightened up the house. Billy was sick so I didn't get much done. Run the vaporizer today - Made the buttonholes & sewed the buttons on his vest. Washed one load of clothes - Hank came home for lunch. Tonight I wrapped Mom & Dad Xmas presents - was doing that when Mom called - Sure was a surprise - She was home - had gone home Tues. night. Said she was feeling pretty good.

Up 7:30. Billy was pretty sick today - the cold settled in his eyes. I run the vaporizer nearly all day. Put a basket of clothes up in the attic & got down some Xmas stuff. Ruby came over for a minute. I sewed the sleeve binding on Billy's vest - he fell asleep for awhile on the davenport - didn't eat any lunch - sewed snaps on his robe - had beans, ham & potatoes for supper - Billy ate after we did. Jim & Jimmie came over. I went to GEX - took Gladys along - home at 10:00 - got a spread for Mom & Dad - clock for Dad - billfold for Mom - sheet & pillow cases for Dowlings - book for Billy.
He was asleep when I got home. I slept with Billy tonight - run the vaporizer all night - he was real restless.

Wrote to Mom this morning - straightened up the house - Pat called - I called Gladys - We didn't eat until 9:00 - got ready & went to Janaf - I ordered a plant sent to Mom - went to Newton Florist - also got some cards - went to Penny's - got Billy a cowboy suit - also a new cap. Went to Catherine's - she wasn't home - we found her at Kitty's - had coffee there - stayed quite awhile. Catherine went with us to Tastee Freez & ate lunch. Home at 3:15 - Billy took a nap - I cleaned & waxed the tile in the kitchen. Hank came home & ate supper - Billy got up about 5:45 - him & I ate. I wrote in diary. Billy didn't go to bed until 11:15. I wrote to Shelly - addessed 50 Xmas cards. First I had to go to bed with him.

Didn't get up until 8:20 - Fixed pancakes for breakfast - done dishes - made beds - took a shower & got ready - we went to the S&H Green Stamp Store - got a table & a chair for Billy for Xmas - 4 books. Had to stand in line a long time. Home at 1:00 - ate lunch - I was doing dishes when Billy brought in a letter from Dad saying that Mom went to the hospital last Tuesday morning - She was real sick - they started giving her hipo's & feeding her through the veins - said it is a hernia but they can't operate until the infection is cleared up. Really was a shock to us. I laid down & got Billy asleep - then wrote a letter to Mom & sent a card - cleaned the kitchen, living room & hall. Sewed the facing on my brown dress. Gave Billy a bath tonight - polished shoes - rolled top of my hair - popped corn - wrote Mom & Dad a long letter.

I washed 4 loads & hung them out - Went to Ruby's for awhile this morning - then came home & cleaned the bedrooms & bath - after lunch I laid down to put Billy asleep - Hank got off early - done the ironing this afternoon & got clothes in - Hank re-hung some in the garage. We went to Tastee Freez & ate supper. It was foggy & misting tonight - then we went to Roger & Pat's & spent the evening. Got home at 11:45. I asked Pat tonight why she didn't speak to Mom - we had quite a discussion.

Got up at 7:30 - Sunny today. Right after breakfast I made a peach pie & rolled out 3 crusts for the freezer - then done dishes. Billy went to Jimmy's - I put the top & sides of my hair up - sewed some more trim on Billy's robe - was doing that when Hank came home. He had gone to Sears & got a new hose for the washer - it was too short so he went to Robbins Corner & got one. We ate dinner together - after lunch I washed one load of white clothes - done dishes - laid down to put Billy asleep - then I hung the clothes out - finished up Billy's robe - spent 1 ½ hrs. turning the belt. Fixed chili for supper. Jim & Jimmy came after supper - I took a shower before. We went to Thom McAnn tonight & got Billy 2 pair of shoes - I went to Grants & got elastic for Billy's p.j.'s & brown thread. Stopped Be Lo & the egg fact. Home at 7:45 - Watched tv - wrote in diary.

Went to Ruby's & got Billy for supper - had pot pies - watched tv tonight until Billy went to bed - then cut out a pair of p.j.'s for Billy - Hank came home for a few minutes - wrote to Mom & Dad - bed at 11:45.

Woke up just as it was getting light - We went to the restroom & cleaned up - when we stopped in Richmond we went to the diner & ate breakfast. Met a nice woman with a little girl & boy - visited with her until we got off. Rode the bus to Norfolk - got in at 11:15 - Hank was there to meet us - I inquired about the damaged suitcases. Got home about 11:45 - Talked awhile then Hank had to go to work - Billy didn't even come in the house - he went straight to Jimmy's. I unpacked the box - changed clothes - called Ruby - called Sears about the washer - Went to Ruby's to get Billy - had coffee there - came home & ate lunch about 2:15 - Catherine called - laid down & put Billy to sleep - got up & done dishes - unpacked everything & put it away. Got supper - Hank got home about 4:45 - gave Billy a bath - I took a shower. Talked & watched tv tonight.

We were awake quite awhile before we got to Chicago - got there at 7:15 - went in the restroom & changed Billy - then we ate breakfast in the depot restaurant. Left at 8:55 - Billy was real good - I read to him a lot - we ate the lunch Mom sent - & ate fruit in between - got to Cinn. at 4:30 - left at 6:20. In the depot in Cinn. I had quite a time keeping up with Billy - he went in the Men's Restroom once - crawled into a locker. I got him a hot dog there - I didn't eat anything there. We ate our supper after we got on the train - Billy settled down about 8:00 & slept all night - woke up about 7:15 - we each had a seat so I got a good nights sleep too.

Hank called this morning. He had met 2 trains last night. I gave Billy a bath & I took a shower. Finished packing - washed out some things by hand. Mom got a cooked dinner - chicken & noodles. Maurell & Mary came this P.M. - Stayed for supper. They left about 8:00 - we got ready - packed a lunch - Went to Clarence's - had coffee there - left about 10:30 & went to the depot - Clarence went too - almost didn't get my bags checked in time to catch the train - the depot agent was really a slow one. Hardly had time to tell them goodbye - Billy sat up & looked out the window until we got to Cedar Falls - then he laid down & went to sleep - I slept off & on but was so uncomfortable that I didn't get much sleep - we only had one seat. Left Parkersburg at 11:08 P.M. - got to Chicago at 7:15 A.M.

I packed most of my stuff - done a hand-washing - This afternoon Billy took a nap - after coffee we went to Grundy - Mom got some groceries. Went to Maurell's for supper - Mary had a real nice supper - Mom cleaned pheasants after supper. We stayed until 11:45.

Up at 7:00 - we had waffles for breakfast - Billy got up after we ate. Pat called this morning - said Roger called last night & she is going to leave next Friday. I took a shower this morning. Dad went to the doctor - he opened his boil up. After lunch we went to P-burg - the car broke down at Hwy 14 - Dad got a ride to town on a tractor - Chuck Norris came out & pushed us to town - Issy came to the station & picked Mom, Billy & I up - we went to Issy's - Dad came shortly after - we had coffee - Billy stayed with Issy - Mom went for a treatment - Dad & I went to the depot - I got my ticket - will leave Sun. night at 11:00 - get home Tues. at 11:15 A.M. Mom & I went to the dime store & Trey's - got Billy a hooded sweatshirt - Went back to Issy's & got Billy - Came home - had waffles & sausage for supper - Called Marion & cancelled res. - called Pat - Maurell came for a few minutes. Stayed home tonight.

Mom cleaned the downstairs this A.M. - I done the kitchen & bath. Freda came at coffee time - stayed until noon. I made a rice pudding. We went to Grundy this afternoon. I cashed a check for $50.00 to go back on - Went to Sadie & Fenton's for coffee - Tonight we went to Maurell's - just as we passed Tessau's we seen a car drive in so we turned around & chased it - it was Maurell & Mary - we caught up with them at Morrison highway - they went on home - Clarence said I could get a train from P-burg - he called the depot agent - didn't make any definite arrangements though.

Her & Wally were here for coffee this A.M. - for dinner & for lunch - Gladys came up for lunch too - Wally was here for supper. Maurell came for a few minutes before supper - him & Mary came tonight - Stayed until 10:00. Carol, Mom, Billy & I went to the field this afternoon.

Clarence's came about 2:30 - Stayed until 5:45 - We were here alone tonight - watched tv. I called Hank about 9:00 - He said we could come home anytime we wanted to. Wrote him a letter tonight.

Mom baked cookies this A.M. After the Mail Man came Billy & I went to Swede's & spent the day. Steve & Billy played all day. After lunch we went downtown - then to Verla's - then we went to Betty Collings - went back to Issy's & she made coffee for the men working on the lawn - Swede was home then. I left about 4:30 - Took a grease gun by Joe Noel's for Swede - Dad wasn't home yet. Mom worked hard all day. After supper we went to Maurell's to see how he was - He got hurt today at Wally's. Home about 9:45.

Up at 7:40 - Mom was up - I got breakfast for Billy & I. Mary & Laurie were here for coffee - then they left. Mom fixed the register in my room to keep mice out - I cleaned the upstairs. Ate lunch - then went to P-burg - Mom had a treatment at 3:00 - Billy & I stayed at Issy's - Clarence was there. Left at 4:15 - went to Grundy & I got 2 pr. of shoes at the Bootery - Stopped at Royal Blue - Stopped at Carol's for eggs - Home at 5:40 - got supper & done dishes. Up at 7:00 - Mom canned pears & shelled pop corn - I done the ironing. Mary & Laurie came this A.M. - after lunch we went to Mary's & she cut & rolled my hair. Before going Mom found mouse manure in her bed so we were worked up about that - Got home late - got supper & done dishes - tore Mom's & my bed apart looking for mice - didn't find anything. I called Hank tonight - he said we could probably come home in a few days. Mom & I sat up real late - we were afraid to go to bed but finally did.

Up at 8:00 - Mom was asleep in Dad's bed - She had been up & laid down again. Billy had messed his pants before I got up. Mom washed this morning. I done dishes - We went to the Post Office - mailed a letter to Hank & got air mail stamps - Stopped at the store. I went over the downstairs after lunch - I didn't put Billy down for a nap - we went back to the Post Office - Mom mailed 2 pkgs. back to Sears - Stopped at Gladys's & had coffee. Home at 5:20 - Got clothes in & put away - Mom got supper. I called Aunt Freda this afternoon. Watched tv tonight - Called Betty Petersen but she wasn't home. Called Hank but didn't get any answer - Called at 8:30 & at 9:30. Dad didn't feel good tonight. Billy went to bed at 8:00.

Gave Billy a bath this AM. & I took a shower. Stayed home all day. I wrote to Hank this afternoon - Maurell's came about 3:00 - had coffee & they stayed for supper - had chicken. Woke up at 6:45 - Changed trains at 7:30 in Cincinnati - ate breakfast after changing - ate lunch in coach - Got to Chicago about 2:00 - took a limousine to the other depot - left about 3:00 - didn't eat supper on the train - got to Marion at 6:45 - Didn't see Mom & Dad at first - they were farther down the track - Tina came also. Mom, Dad, Billy & I stopped at an A&W Drive In & ate supper - Billy slept on the way home. Got here at 10:00 - Maurell & Mary came shortly after - we had coffee. Really tired tonight. Billy was good today but sure worn out tonight.

Up at 6:30 - felt terrible this A.M. Had a headache & cried all the time because I didn't want to leave Hank. Pat called & we decided to take the train. I packed this morning. Ruby called - Her & Jimmy left at 8:45 for North Carolina. I called Gladys & also Catherine - Hank came home with money for the trip ($110.00) Then he had to go back - said he would be back about 1:00. Dowling's came at 12:15 - We left about 1:00. Hank took us to the depot. Roger & Pat were there. We left at 2:05 by bus - went to Newport News - got the train at 3:05. Billy was good but it was a long hard trip. Ate supper on the train. Didn't get much rest & neither did the kids. I was up & down all night & cold all night. Each of the kids had a seat to sleep on & Pat & I sat up.

Pat called this morning & said she might go to Iowa with the kids. I cleaned the house today - Midge came this morning. Hank came home at noon & got suitcases down - he said he thought Billy & I should go home tonight or tomorrow. After lunch I washed my hair - done some ironing - finished cleaning. I was terribly upset & cried a lot. Ruby came over - Pat & Roger came tonight & we decided to leave tomorrow - decided to drive Roger's car. They stayed until after 11:00 - then I called Mom & Dad - talked to Dad - washed dishes & went to bed. Cried a long time before I could go to sleep.

Washed woodwork in back bedroom - cleaned floor with SOS pads - then scrubbed it with Spin & Span - waxed the furniture - gave the floor 2 coats of wax - I was upset today over the Cuban situation. Didn't leave the house until late afternoon for fear Hank would call - Had to go to Ruby's to get Billy for supper - fixed chicken - Hank didn't get home until about 8:00 - Billy & I ate at 6:30 - Ruby came after supper & Hank came in while she was here. He was pretty worried. They took more men today but he didn't have to go. Was late with dishes.

Up at 7:00. Got breakfast before 8:00 - Done dishes - then started the wash. Had 5 loads - some were small. In between hanging up clothes, etc. I scraped tar in the back bedroom - moved everything out but the bed. Worked at that in between times. Went to Ruby's at noon to get Billy. Jimmy came after lunch & stayed until about 2:00. I done dishes & scraped tar. Ruby came after Jimmy - I laid down to get Billy asleep - it was 2:45 when I got up - finished scraping tar - got clothes in - fixed chili for supper. Folded the clothes after supper & made Billy's bed. Took a shower - watched tv.
Hank came home tonight & said they are on standby - about 50 guys left today. They had special broadcasts on tv tonight - it doesn't look good.

Up at 7:00 - Fixed pancakes & bacon for breakfast - ate before 8:00 - Billy watched tv until 9:30 - then went to Jimmy's until lunchtime. I cleaned the whole house - after lunch I laid down to get Billy asleep - then done dishes - worked in the garage quite awhile - went through his toy box & threw a lot out - moved everything out & swept it out. Took the rug out - Hank came home for a few minutes & he helped me put it on the line - he came home to get his uniform - has duty tonight. I finished folding yesterday's wash & put it away. Fixed Spanish Rice for supper - went to Ruby's for awhile before supper. Gave Billy a bath - trimmed his robe pattern

Hank got up at 4:00 this morning - had to go to Washington. Billy & I got up at 6:30. Cloudy this A.M. I sewed hem facing on Charlene's striped dress - got breakfast - Midge came while we were eating - She stayed until 12:00 - Ruby came over & had coffee. This P.M. I laid down & got Billy to sleep - then hemmed the striped dress - sewed the zipper in the Navy Blue one - straightened it - Went to Ruby's for a few minutes. We had pot pies for supper - gave Billy a bath & washed his hair - was rinsing it when Hank came home. He ate a bite. Jo Ann Torbett called tonight - hemmed the Navy Blue dress tonight - started a letter to Mom & Dad.

After breakfast Hank went after Thomas - They wire-brushed the house - He took Billy along - While they were gone I washed dishes - made beds - straightened up the house & washed my hair. Billy & I went to Colonial - also the dime store. Got lunch when I got home - Thomas was here for lunch. After I done dishes I laid down & got Billy to sleep - then I shortened the green skirt Charlene gave me - sewed hem binding on the striped dress - took a shower & got ready. We went to the Chesapeake Fire Station for a spaghetti supper - then went to Holmes's - home at 9:30 - Put Billy to bed - fell asleep during Gunsmoke.

Got up at 6:45 - Made coffee - fixed some toast for Billy - left at 7:30 - Hank took me to the base & left me off - I went to see about my foot. Had to wait quite awhile - then they sent me to the Emergency Treatment Bldg. - The Dr. pared part of it off - he said it would require several treatments - probably take about 2 wks. Hank took Billy & got his hair cut - then he came home & got breakfast for him - came & picked me up. We got home at 10:30 - Billy went to Jimmie's to play - I ate a bowl of cereal - picked some flower seeds off & took them to Ruby - came home & cleaned the living room - got lunch - made a rice pudding & done dishes. Hank got off early - couldn't get Billy to sleep - cleaned all the house except Billy's room - got supper - gave Billy a bath - Hank went to Munson's - I watched tv - wrote in diary.

Got up at 6:45 - Billy didn't eat until 9:30. He watched tv so I took stuff off the closet shelves - washed the shelves - also all the woodwork & baseboards - blew the radiator out - after breakfast I put floor cleaner down on half the floor - rinsed it twice - gave it two coats of Freewax - put furniture polish on the furniture - cleaned the pictures and lamps. After I got Billy asleep I done the other half - then washed dishes - moved the furniture back - Fixed Just Good Eatin' for supper - also greens - Took a shower after supper - cut my toenails & shaved my legs. Watched tv - really tired tonight.

Got up at 6:45 - Finished Billy's p.j.'s & shortened a pair of his blue jeans - Put the ironing away & got some summer things together to put up. Took the hem out of my blue shantung dress. Moved everything out of the room except the bed & started scraping tar. Billy played at Jimmy's - Hank came home for lunch - after I got Billy to sleep I worked on the floor all afternoon - scraped up the old wax too - I was still at it when Hank came home. He finished the mowing - then we went to Tastee Freez & got hot dogs - Stopped at High's & got ice cream - then stopped at Munson's for awhile - home about 9:00 - watched tv - Was pretty stiff & sore tonight.

After breakfast I straightened up the house - then Hank & Billy went downtown after the lawnmower - I put the top & sides of my hair up - done some ironing - ironed the bedspread for the back room. Washed a load of white clothes. Cut out Billy's p.j. bottoms - after lunch I laid down to get Billy to sleep - then got up & cleaned the kitchen - also went over the living room, hall & bath a little. Called Mrs. Dearmon. Made buttonholes in Billy's p.j.'s & sewed the buttons on. Got supper early - we were doing dishes about 6:00 when Munson's came. They hadn't eaten so I fixed hot dogs & beans for them - Hank had to go to the store. I gave Billy a bath & he watched the last half of Lawrence Welk. Munson's left at 10:45 - Hank & I done the dishes after they left.

Still cloudy this A.M. - partly cloudy this P.M. Tried to figure out how to make buttonholes this morning - cleaned the house - except for finishing up in the kitchen & shaking rugs. Billy & I went to the egg factory & then went to Bayside & got buttons for Billy's p.j.'s - Stopped at Ruby's on the way home. She brought Jimmy home this morning. Finished cleaning the living room before lunch - ate lunch & done dishes. Midge called. Had just laid down with Billy when Hank came home - just about that time Munson's came - They had just got here from Great Lakes - They stayed until 6:00 - After they left we went to McDonald's on Va. Beach Blvd. & ate supper. Home at 7:15 - Got Billy ready for bed. Watched tv & messed around trying to make buttonholes.
Still cloudy this A.M. - partly cloudy this P.M. Tried to figure out how to make buttonholes this morning - cleaned the house - except for finishing up in the kitchen & shaking rugs. Billy & I went to the egg factory & then went to Bayside & got buttons for Billy's p.j.'s - Stopped at Ruby's on the way home. She brought Jimmy home this morning. Finished cleaning the living room before lunch - ate lunch & done dishes. Midge called. Got up at 7:00 - Hank had already gone to work. I sewed on Billy's p.j.'s for awhile - cleaned the west windows in our room & the north room - ironed the curtains for the north room & put them up. Pat called this A.M. - had to entertain Billy part of the time. After lunch I laid down with Billy & I fell asleep too - didn't even hear Hank come home - he woke me up at 6:00 - I called Pam to ask her & Pat to eat with us but they had eaten. I got supper - took a shower as soon as I got dishes done - messed around trying to make buttonholes - wrote in diary - watched tv. Went to bed at 11:15.

Done dishes after she left - got lunch & done dishes again - laid down with Billy to get him to sleep - then got up & cleaned the kitchen & living room - put a roast - then sewed on Billy's p.j.'s - Pat & Pam came over for supper. Up at 6:30 - Ironed this morning - Straightened up the house - Hank came home for lunch. The lady came & gave me a sewing lesson fom 12:00 to 1:00 - then Billy & I ate lunch - done dishes - got ready & took him to Midge's - then I went to the dentist - had my teeth cleaned & a wisdom tooth pulled. Stopped by Midge's to thank her - Hank had picked Billy up. Got supper but I couldn't eat much - Billy & I went to the drugstore & picked up the pictures - got a coloring book & crayons for Jimmy - Stopped at Ruby's - Came home & sewed the cafe curtains & put them up - sewed Hank's green jacket - cut out Billy's p.j.'s - Went to bed at 11:45.

Took Billy to Sunday School - also Pat, Pam & Jimmy - then I went back after them. Baked a Lemon Flake cake - wrote out a bunch of checks - got lunch - laid down with Billy & got him to sleep. Dowling's came about 2:30 - we rode out to the cemetery. Came back here & had lunch. They left at 6:00 - We went to Allie's & got hot dogs - then went to Jim & Ruby's - home at 9:00 - Put Billy to bed - watched tv & started a letter to Mom & Dad.

Got sewing machine tonight -
Finished cleaning storm windows as soon as I got up - after breakfast I cleaned all the windows on the outside except the garage & kitchen windows above the sink - put the storms & screens back in - picked strawberries. Brenda came just before lunch - couldn't find Midge when she came from school. After lunch I called - Brenda was alone so Billy & I went over - Midge came in shortly after - she had been at Dailey's. Midge brought us home - Ruby came over to get a bean recipe. After they left I cleaned the house. The man brought my sewing machine just before supper. Mr. Paul came to work on mower. Jim came over - Sam Ciechon came - I messed with the sewing machine for awhile - Wasn't sure I got the right one.

Got up at 6:45 - Sunny & warm today - In the 70's - Our tv is broken so Billy couldn't watch it. Ate breakfast at 7:30 - Worked on bedroom windows before breakfast - cleaned the frames with steel wool. Worked on windows all day - Washed screens - cleaned frames with steel wool, then washed it all with Spic & Span. Got most of the windows (storm) cleaned. We got the lawn mower today - Hennis Freight delivered it $11.82. Fixed a roast for supper. Gave Billy a bath after supper - cleaned the sink, stool & tub - hemmed Catherine's dress tonight - Took a shower.

Pam came at 6:45 - Pat & Roger came about 7:00 - we went to the Club & ate - stayed until it closed - then stopped at the Truck Stop & got coffee & hamburgers - It was 1:15 when we got home - They came in - Pat & I walked Pam home - about 2:30 when we went to bed.

Washed 9 loads of clothes - went to Ruby's to check on Billy - he wasn't there so went to Smith's - Ruby was down there - I went in for awhile - went back to Ruby's & had coffee there - came home & done dishes - hung out more clothes - Jimmy was here while we ate lunch - Midge called & said she was coming over - her & Brenda came - stayed until 2:45 - Billy wouldn't take a nap - I was still washing when Hank came home - got the clothes in & folded - got supper (pork chops) then we went to Penny's at Janaf - got bedroom shoes for Billy - one white dress shirt & 2 corduroy. Hank & Billy went in Grant's. Made Billy's bed when we got home - done supper dishes - wrote in diary - Took a shower & dampened clothes. Bed at 11:10.

Got up at 7:00 - Rained all day - cleared off towards evening. I had a dirty house to clean - cleaned the kitchen & done up some dishes while Billy watched tv - after breakfast I cleaned the living room - hall & bath - re-arranged part of the living room. Billy couldn't go out so i read to him for awhile - Hank got off about 11:30 - after lunch I went & got my hair cut while Hank & Billy stayed here. When I got back we all went to Sears Warehouse - then to Sears on 21st street - couldn't get the part we needed for the bath tub faucet - got Billy 2 pair of dungarees - 6 pr. of socks & suspenders - Stopped at Savemore Mkt - home at 4:15 - Billy took a nap - i wrapped meats for the freezer. Had fish sticks for supper. Gave Billy a bath - watched tv & read the paper tonight. Went to bed at 10:00.

Got up at 7:45 - Fixed breakfast & done dishes - Took Billy to Sunday School - then I went & had coffee with Gladys - Picked Billy up - also Pat, Pam & Jimmie - Straightened up the house - made beds - got lunch - before lunch I took Mom & Dad's letter to Bayside & mailed it - was just finishing lunch dishes when Pat & Roger came. They stayed until 9:30 - Pat fixed taco's for supper & I had sliced tomatoes, cottage cheese, pie & coffee. Troy messed all over twice - broke a jar of grape jelly in the garage - I was fit to be tied by the time they left. Read part of the paper & went to bed. Hamk was pretty disgusted too.

After lunch I gave Billy a bath - then laid down with him & he took a nap. I didn't do anything this P.M. - Went over to Ruby's to see how Jimmy was. Was going to mow but changed my mind. Got up at 7:15 - Billy got up too - I started washing - had 9 loads. Went to Ruby's to check on Billy - Midge came over there - we came back here & she stayed until 12:30 - Ate lunch after she left & laid down with Billy - after he went to sleep I got up & started mowing (2:30) - Mowed until Hank came home (4:45) Got about half of it done. It was really hot. Took a shower & got ready - We went to Gibson's & ate - then went to GEX - got shampoo - a sympathy card for Tina - a few groceries - Stopped at Grant's at Janaf - got a shower curtain & puzzle for Billy - then went to Overton's & got bread, milk & juice - went to High's & got cones - got home at 9:15 - Went to bed about 10:15.

Hank had duty today - I didn't get anything done - finally decided to take Billy to the doctor - couldn't get ahold of Hank so Ruby took us - he said he had Echo 9 (a bad throat infection) & that headache & high temperature went with it - he gave me the name of a medicine to get for his throat - got home about 12:45 - Billy wouldn't eat - he took a nap - Hank came home about 5:30 & I went to Bayside & got the medicine for Billy - Billy ate a little supper tonight - Ruby & Jimmy came over - stayed until 9:00 - the kids put puzzles together. Catherine called & said they won at Farm Freash. We were watching Miss America Pageant when Hank came in about 10:00. We stayed up & watched it - The officer let Hank come home to stay all night. Billy slept with me.

Got up at 6:45 - Billy was still running a temperature. Called Ruby's this morning. Didn't do anything all day except tend to him - He was real sick. The plumber came at 11:30 - Worked until 2:00 - It cost $15.85 to fix the stool & he couldn't fix the tub. I made a rice pudding for supper - I put Billy in bed with me again tonight - he was still burning up & complaining about headaches.

Got up & got clothes in - made our bed - put the clothes away - cleaned the kitchen, living room, hall & bath. Went after Hank - Jimmy rode along - the guy came back & claimed his car today. Went after eggs before coming home. Fixed ham - fried potatoes - gravy - lima beans - eggplant - tomatoes. Billy didn't eat any supper - went to bed at 8:30 - said his head hurt. I balanced the bank statement.

I watched tv - took a shower - polished my fingernails & toe nails. Went to bed at 11:00. I put Billy in bed with me. Didn't sleep good - woke up so many times.

Went to Midge's this morning - Done some ironing before breakfast - After we left Midge's we went to Bayside & got Dad a birthday card - Hank got off at 11:30 - Midge & the kids picked Billy & I up & we went to the beach at Little Creek - the pool was closed. Got home at 2:30 - gave Billy a bath & then we ate lunch. He wouldn't take a nap - I finished the ironing - picked apples for Midge - We took them to her, then went to Carroll's on Va. Beach Blvd. & ate supper. Stopped at Robert Hall & got Dad a shirt.

Nice today - I washed - had a big one - didn't get done until after lunch - This afternoon I got clothes in - made up the beds - run the sweeper over the kitchen, living room & hall. After supper we rode out to Rosewood Cemetery but couldn't find our lot - Stopped at High's for cones -

Got up at 6:45 - Made coffee for Hank - got Billy's breakfast before Captain Kangaroo - Ironed all morning - It rained so Billy had to stay inside. Gladys called. I laid down with Billy to get him asleep - I fell asleep too - woke up when a man came to he door delivering our dining room table - Hank was late getting home from Pendleton - I fixed chili soup for supper - Dowling's came out tonight.

Dampened clothes this morning - Catherine called. Cleaned kitchen windows inside & out - also cleaned living room windows inside & the back ones on the outside - went to Dowdy's to get Billy for lunch - Laid down with Billy after lunch & he took a nap on our bed.

After supper a man came selling cemetery lots - we bought one in Rosewood Memorial Park - Section A - Lot 21 "Garden of Sermon On The Mountain" - ($332.50) After he left we done dishes - gave Billy a bath - Hank went to the base for a few minutes. I wrote in diary.

After lunch we rode out & looked at Munden's house - then rode out to Sandbridge - Stopped at Oceana & got cokes - got home about 3:15 - I made beef stew for supper - Billy wouldn't take a nap - didn't eat until 7:00 - Watched tv tonight - wrote in my diary. Went to bed at 10:30.

Hank mowed the lawn today - It wasn't quite so hot today - I cleaned the bedrooms & garage - after lunch I washed my hair - fixed chicken for supper - wrote to Mom & Dad in between times - Gave Billy a bath after supper - he watched Lawrence Welk - We watched Gunsmoke - I went to bed after that.

I ironed this morning - Billy went to Jimmy's birthday party this afternoon - I put 14 pint of apples in the freezer. Hank went to the base after supper - was suppose to have a night swim - Billy & I went to Warner's for awhile - when we got home, Hank was just driving up - They had cancelled the swim. I finished the ironing tonight.

Made beds - unpacked all but one suitcase - Jimmy came over before we ate breakfast - Midge called - I dampened clothes - Ruby came over for coffee - I canned 5 pt. of tomatoes - 1 qt. jar broke - Hank got home at 2:30 this P.M. I went to Bayside - got a few groceries - a card for Jimmy & wrapping paper - didn't feel good today. It was cooler today. After supper I weeded some of the flower bed by the garage.

Got up at 6:45 - Ate breakfast at a truck stop - Had a hard time finding a place to stop for lunch - stopped at a picnic table west of Emporia & ate dinner - Saw a car & a trailer on fire west of Holland - Billy took a nap this P.M. - he was asleep when we got home - we got here at 4:15 - Unloaded the car & washed dishes - John Parrish came over - then Jim & Ruby came - after they left I got supper - gave Billy a bath & Hank & I took showers - wrote a note to Mom & Dad & sent Aunt Iva a card. Went to bed early.

Got up at 6:45 - ate breakfast near the motel - then drove to Gatlinburg - got ice for the cooler & went through Mystery Hill there - then went through the Smokies - drove 7 mi. over to Clingman's Dome but it was so cloudy we couldn't see anything - took some pictures of a bear - Stopped at Cherokee & got some souvenirs - got a few groceries - went out of Cherokee on Rt. 19 - Stopped at a Roadside Park & ate lunch - followed 19 to Asheville - took 70 & 40 to Old Fort - then took 40 to Winston-Salem - there we took 158 - got a motel about 12 mi. east of Winston-Salem ($8.00) Drove to Stokesdale & ate supper at a drive-in - Stopped at a grocery store & got ice for the cooler.

Left Tina's at 9:30 - had narrow roads & slow traffic - Ate our lunch in Cumberland Falls State Park - Stopped for the night at Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Stayed at Wayne's Motel - real pretty there - After we checked in we went toward Gatlinburg & stopped at Fairyland - then we ate supper at Butler's Farm - it wasn't too good - rode out to Rebel Railroad after supper - Then down to Gatlinburg - went back to the motel - gave Billy a bath - & I took one - washed dishes & wrote postcards (Mom & Dad - Maurell's - Clarence's & Gladys Davis) -

I stayed around Tina's all day - Gave Billy a bath this morning - I took a shower this afternoon - done some packing tonight - Tina & I stayed home - Hank & C.E. went riding - It was hot today. Tina gave Billy some clothes & gave us a cherry end table & a picture.

Messed around at Tina's this A.M. - Hank got a haircut - After lunch Hank, Tina & I went to Campbellsville - Jane kept Billy at home - Tina took us to a factory where they make cherry furniture & bought us a cherry drop leaf table - ($120.00) She is having it shipped. Went to a drive in there & had coffee - Went back to Greensburg - Stopped in the drugstore & I got some pills for my throat. After supper we went to see C.E's mother. Came home & visited awhile.

Up at 6:20 - Filled the ice chest before leaving Effingham - Hank drove to Newton & we ate breakfast there - mailed Mom's letter - I drove until we ate lunch - we ate east of Shoals in a State Park - had to detour on 50 this morning for quite aways - Hank drove after lunch. Didn't have good roads today & was held up a lot by slow traffic. Billy went to sleep when we went through Louisville. Cloudy nearly all day & cool - wore sweaters. Got to Tina's about 6:30 - She had supper ready for us - After supper Tina & I took the boys to the golf course - Billy played too & he peed out on the golf course - Tina & I went to the barn first - then we parked downtown - CE & Hank had Billy in the restaurant - We all had coffee before going to bed. Billy slept on a couch in the den.

Got up at 6:30 - Finished packing & got the car loaded. Mom fixed a lunch & sent it with us - cookies, cake - berry pie - meat & coffee. We left at 9:00 - Saw Gladys, Buster & Uncle Lester on our way out - Stopped at Galesburg, Ill. & got gas & bread - Ate lunch at a roadside park southeast of Galesburg (outside of Knoxville). Stopped at Effingham, Ill. tonight - got there about 6:30 - nice motel $10.00 - we all took baths - ate supper in the motel - we went to a drive in & got a hot dog, french fries & drink for Billy - Went uptown & got baby aspirin - Wrote to Mom & Dad - done some handwashing & dishes.

Clarence's & Maurell's came this afternoon - We had a picnic supper - really good - Mom fixed chicken & noodles - After supper we all went to look at Maurell's house - came home & done dishes - had lunch & then Clarences & Maurells' left about 10:30

I got breakfast - Mom started washing - had the washing done at coffee time - went to Carol & Wally's for coffee - After lunch we went to Maurell's to see what they were doing - Mary was painting the porch - Maurell was working outside - Had coffee there - stopped at the store in Morrison on our way home - Maurell & Mary came for supper - Billy slept in the car until supper. Had waffles & sausage. I washed my hair before supper. Mom washed hers after supper & Mary & I put it up.

Hank, Maurell & Swede went fishing all day - Dad took Hank to Parkersburg - I ironed & cleaned upstairs. Dad mowed. Mom & I went to Grundy - went to Manly's & Firestone. Got Laurie a couple of toys. Got up at 7:00 - Clarence called before breakfast & asked us to come up - We went up there after breakfast - had coffee - then we all went up past Aplington to see the train wreck where a 19 yr. old truck driver was killed - Got back to Issy's at 12:15 & ate lunch there - Mom & Dad went downtown & got peaches - I stayed & talked to Issy - Left about 2:30 - Stopped at Aunt Freda's on the way home & had lunch - first time we had seen her - Mrs. Shearn was there - came home & got supper - Stayed home tonight - no company - Billy went to bed early -

Went to Reinbeck this A.M. - got groceries & went to the bakery - then went to Maurell's - Wally's came - we all had coffee - came home before dinner - Slept awhile this P.M. - Went to Clarence's for supper - had such a nice supper - Mom, Issy & I went to the Laundromat & done the washing - got soft drinks at Trey's - Went to Maurell's awhile while waiting for the wash - Stayed at Swede's until 11:30 - Billy stayed overnight.

Went to Otto & Ruby's this morning - had coffee there - went to Wellsburg from there - Dad got some papers from the lawyer there - Mom & I went to the locker - Stopped at Koob's & got milk - Home at 12:15 & ate dinner - this afternoon we got things ready for the picnic tonight - went to Maurell's after coffee - Mary was painting & Maurell mowing - had a picnic tonight - Buster & Gladys, Carol, Wally & the kids & Maurell & Mary were all here - also Lily Storjahann - Billy went to bed about 5:30.

We were ready to go to Maurell's at 7:30 - waited until 10:30 then went. Hank & I didn't know where we were going - found out that Maurell's are moving to Lillie Storjohann's farm - They were there working - Laurie is so good.

Got up at 6:00 - had a good start - Went through Aurora - stopped at a Truck Stop & ate breakfast - had just left there when the red light flashed on the generator indicator - Hank pulled off the side of the road - checked under the hood - got back in & the car wouldn't budge either way - he hitchhiked back to the truck stop - got a wrecker to come out - he pushed us into Hinckley, Ill. - went to the Ford garage - got there at 8:30 (our time) (7:30 their time) - Didn't leave until 4:55 their time - Got Billy's hair cut - him & I went to the Park - messed around there all day - I called home & told Mom we had transmission trouble. It cost $93.56 - We stopped before getting to Cedar Rapids & ate maid-rites in the car - I drove some - got home at 8:45 - Clarence's & Maurell's were here - everyone came out to the car to greet us - had lunch - everyone & everything looked so nice - Mom had the house looking so nice. Really seemed good to see everyone.

Got up at 6:10 - Made coffee & packed the car - Ate breakfast between Massillon & Wooster - The restaurant was a filling station converted to a restaurant - I started driving west of Bucyrus - we stopped at a roadside park for lunch - between Delphos & Van Wert - I drove again after lunch as far as Plymouth. Hank drove until we got to Aurora - really had a time - bypassed the town & had to turn back - drove all over town & asked several places before finding a motel - wound up at Hansen's where we stayed 6 yrs. ago - then went to a Burger Chef place & ate - took showers - bathed Billy in the sink - washed dishes & clothes - Bed at 11:15.

Got up at 4:00 - Left at 5:35 - Carried Billy out in his p.j.'s but he didn't get back to sleep - clouded over & cold this morning - Ran into fog after going through the tunnel - ate breakfast at Bowling Green (8:20). Ate lunch along the road just before getting to Romney, West Va. Drove until about 7:00 - Stayed at Minerva, Ohio - Hank done all the driving - drove 502 miles. Billy was real good all day.

Didn't get up until 8:00 - After breakfast dishes I took a shower & washed & set my hair - Hank & Billy went shopping - Washed 4 loads of clothes - Got some things lined up for our trip - This afternoon I packed my clothes & Billy's - Gladys, Ronnie & Cindy came down late afternoon - She brought crayons for Billy to take - After she left I got supper (pork chops - potatoes & gravy - corn on the cob - zucchini squash - tomatoes & cucumbers. After supper I done a little more packing - gave Billy a bath - called Dowling's - wrote in diary. Billy went to sleep on the couch looking at Lawrence Welk. Hank went to the store tonight.

Got up at 6:30 - Got breakfast for Welad - He left about 8:00 to go to an Antique Place - I cleaned the house & garage this A.M. - went to Ruby's - Hank came home while Billy & I were eating lunch - Welad came back right after Hank left. I washed dishes - Got tomatoes & cucumbers out of the garden for Roger & Pat. They came about 1:30 - Roger mowed lawn - Pat & I picked apples for them - They stayed until 6:30 - Jim H. came over - After they left we went to Carol's & ate supper - then took Welad to Williamsburg - got home at 11:00 - had to get Billy ready for bed - He was worn out - We went right to bed after that.

Washed this A.M. - Went to Midge's for awhile - then went up to the egg factory - after lunch I rolled out 2 apple pies - was doing that when Welad & another guy drove in - they stayed awhile & then the guy who brought him had to go to work - Welad took our car & left - I baked 1 apple pie for supper - got supper - Ruby came over after & had coffee - Welad & Hank went to an Antique store - didn't get back until 10:15 - I folded clothes - made up Welad's bed - I went to bed at 11:00 - Hank & Welad stayed up.

After supper we went to Janaf - got Billy a pair of tennis shoes at Thom McAnn. Went to Bayside & got Billy's pictures back - Stopped at High's & got ice cream cones. Started washing before breakfast. Had 5 loads. The washer drain overflowed & water ran all over the floor - had to pull the stove out so waxed the sides of it & side of the washer. Went to Kitty's this A.M. to get Billy - Went to Ruby's at noon for a few minutes. This afternoon I scrubbed & waxed the kitchen floor. Ruby came over for awhile. After supper I folded clothes, made up the beds & took a shower. Hank took Billy to the base for awhile - he had duty & went out there to check.
