Up at 8:00 - After bkfst. & dishes I went up to Bayside to the Dime Store - got myself a lt. blue pr. of sneakers & 2 coloring bks. for Billy to take to Abingdon. Cleaned the whole house after I got back - Billy & Hank went & got 2 new tires for the car - ate lunch after they got home - got a letter from Issy saying that Clarence will be in Washington, D.C. from Sept 19-22 & would like to see us. We all rode out to the base - got a collar for Pebbles & Hank checked to see if he could swap his Sept. 20 duty with someone - no luck. Mr. Paul came up when we got home - I wrote a letter to Midge - Fixed hamburgers - potatoe salad - cole slaw & beans for supper. Went to Ruby's a minute tonite - gave Billy a bath & I took a shower - Called Gladys. - Wrote in diary.

Up at 6:45 - Still raining - quit about noon but remained partially cloudy all day. Done some mending & sewing this A.M. - wrote out cks. for bills - wrote a letter to Mark & Therza. Didn't do much today - afraid to wash because of the weather - Up at 6:45. Shortened my new red dress ¾". Billy & I went down to Kitty's this A.M. - Ruby came over before lunch - Started raining this P.M. - Kitty came up this afternoon. Catherine & Gladys called - Hot dogs for supper & left-overs from yesterday. Poured down rain tonite - Lansden & his boy came to work on the tv - stayed until about 10:30 waiting on the rain to let up but it never did - flooded the garage - water stood all over it. We brought Pebbles in the kitchen & let her sleep in a basket. Went to bed about 11:30. Shortened my jamaica skirt tonite.

They got apples, figs & grapes. After they left we went to Jim & Ruby's for awhile - She acted pretty cool - had coffee there - home at 9:30 - Read the paper & went to bed.

Washed 2 loads of white clothes (both beds) also the kitchen & bathroom curtains - plus one at back living room door - cleaned windows in kitchen & living room door inside & out - also back kitchen window inside & out - & washed venetian blind at back window - I shot Flinchum's police dog this A.M. & hit him - he yelped all the way home & worried about it the rest of the day - it made me half-sick - Called Dr. Johnson's office & made an appt. with Dr. Holland for 3:00 P.M. tomorrow - Cut the curtain off for the kitchen door & made the ruffle a little shorter - sewed a bra - Fixed a roast for supper - Billy got stung this P.M. - Read to him this P.M. - read Grundy paper - Ruby picked figs after supper & I talked to her - came in at 8:30 - gave Billy a bath - wrote in diary - Took a shower & douche & shaved my legs.

Up at 6:30 - Took a shower - done last nights dishes - read some in baby book - fed Geo. & Pebbles - Hank & Billy got up about 8:30 - Got bkfst. & done dishes - made beds & then Billy & I got ready for S.S. & Church - Gladys - Ronnie & Cindy picked us up at 10:30 & we went to Haygood Methodist Church - Billy went in Cindy's class as a teacher didn't show up for his class - Saw a man in church who looked exactly like Maurell - Went to Olivers Farm & Williams Farm then home - was eating lunch when J.C. Clinedinst & Charles came - done dishes & made coffee for him - went to Ruby's for a few minutes - came home & read the paper - went back to Ruby's & we sat outside - came home at 6:00 & made a pizza - Watched tv tonight - bed at 10:00. Real sleepy tonite - couldn't stay awake.

Up at 8:50 - Quite hot but a nice breeze - Washed & set my hair & str. up the house - Washed 2 loads of clothes - Hank & Billy went to Coates & Land for a new wire for push mower - I baked a Cherry Supreme Cake this P.M. - Billy & Hank went to Val-U-Fair & got meat. Gladys & Cindy came while they were gone - got supper after she left - had bar-b-qued pork & biscuit turnovers - cole slaw - sliced tom. - leftover macaroni - cherry cake & apple dumplings -
Wrapped meat for freezer - Jim & Jimmie came over - I was ironing Billy's Sunday School clothes when Ruby came - They stayed until after 10:00 - Watched rest of movie "Rains of Ranchipur" - I read paper - bed at 11:15.

Up at 8:00 - Felt real lazy this A.M. - Called Gladys - Cleaned house this A.M. - re-arranged Billy's room - Hank got home about 12:00 - he had been up all night & was worn out - After lunch he finished mowing with the pusher - had very little to do - I cleaned the living room - baked a pan of apple dumplings for supper - used a recipe from Better Homes cookbook & it turned out pretty good - also made macaroni & cheese - Hank slept until about 5:30 - after supper he helped Jim work on his mower - Billy & I went to Gladys's for awhile - I took her 9 qt. jars - a jar of plum jelly & some apple dumplings. Went to the egg factory - home at 8:30 - Gave Billy a bath & I took a shower - Watched tv - wrote in diary.

Up at 6:00 - Finished Mom & Dad's letter before Billy got up - he got up about 8:00 - Put 14 pint of apples in the freezer this A.M. - Hank came home for lunch - I had Jimmy here for lunch - him & Billy ate on the picnic table & Teeny had watermelon with them. Ruby came over after lunch - mowed the back yard this P.M. - Came in at 3:30 & started supper - Hank came home & ate - Took Mr. Paul to Lansdale Traffic Circle before supper - Mrs. Paul had a wreck there - Hank went back to work at 6:00. He was gone all night - They had a sneak attack tonite - I mowed until dark - got it all done except for a little in front of house - talked to Kitty & Mrs. Doughty - went to Jim's & got Billy - gave him a bath - watched tv & fell asleep.
